Pokemon Sun and Moon

A Guzma x Player Fan Fiction

Chapter Two

Three Months Later

It's strange how an entire plane trip can drain so much energy you've prepped up for a new place to call home. We arrived in Alola on MeleMele Island, it's a small island and the place that Professor Kukui lives in. I was really excited to begin my adventure but the moment we finally arrived to our home the movers had already finished setting up furniture. I figured I would get some rest after the flight and the way over here.

"Mwawwwrrrr!"

Meowth? Ugh, just a few more minutes!

"Mwawwwwrrrr!"

Fine! I woke up from my sleep, stretched and yawned my way out of my room and realized that my clothes and shoes were still on me. Was I really that tired? As I walked out of my room with Meowth, I finally got to see the kitchen and dining room granted there were still boxes around the house but it mostly consisted of china and other items that would go around the house. My mom walks in the house from the outside balcony as she greeted me in my groggy aura.

"You were out like a light, weren't you? You ought to be filled with energy by now!"

I chuckled.

"You could say that heh heh." I said awkwardly as I scratched the back of my head.

"So (_______), are you pumped to meet some Alolan Pokemon?" my mom asked with a piqued interest.

That's right, now that we're living in Alola now, it means that there's new Pokemon waiting to be seen.

"Of course I am mom, I've been looking forward to this move for over three months." I said with excitement.

"I want to hurry up and meet some, too! she said with a gentle giggle.

I quickly hugged my mom and gave a gentle squeeze.

"I'm really happy you convinced me to go, thank you mom." I said with sincerity.

I think she was shocked to see me like this at first and returned my hug with a hug back. It wasn't often I said thank you to mom often unless it was a birthday present or the food she would bring home when she knew there was food in the fridge. The smell of her cherry blossom hair put me at ease once again. As we hugged the door bell rang.

Ding Dong!

We slowly composed ourselves as we both looked towards the door

"Was that the doorbell?" my mom asked with a slight daze.

Even my mom was caught up in our moment just now. I think this move may have meant more to her than ever before.

"That's got to be Professor Kukui, why don't you let him in (_______)?" my mom asked me

As I was about to head towards the door, it begins to open and Professor Kukui had entered the house himself. He stepped in and looked around the house. My guess was he wanted to make sure that we had moved in just fine, he turned around to face me as he smiled and began to introduce himself.

"The name's Kukui! Good too meet you, cousin!"

Must be a Alolan slang for friend or something.

"You gotta be tired after that long trip all the way here to Alola!" he said as he looked at me at my tiresome eyes.

"You feeling any jet lag?" Kuikui asked as I rubbed my eyes.

"You wouldn't believe it." I said as yawned and continued to rub my eyes.

I guess it would still be considered to be night in Kanto right now. So that's why I literally feel like I just woke up in the middle of the night.

"Professor Kukui! Yes, we just arrived here yesterday," My mom said as she walked up right next to me.

"Hey there, mom! I'd just let myself in. Oh and call me Kukui would you?"

At least he took knowledge about how he entered this house. He's so laid back and not as formal as I thought most professors would be.

"Of course, I still remember seeing you battle the Indigo Gym Leaders all those years ago you know!" my mom said in a nostalgic tone.

Kuikui was a trainer in Kanto? I mean I can understand his love for Pokemon as any trainer would.

"I've been in love with Alolan Pokemon ever since, so I finally decided to come here myself!"

She must have been really inspired to come here all these years.

"Ha! I was supposed to be visiting there to research Kanto Pokemon moves and all. I thought I knew a thing or two about battling, but those Kanto Gym Leaders proved me wrong!"

Professor Kukui studies Pokemon moves? Maybe he studies about the complexity of certain moves, and move types. I wonder if I have everything it takes to understand my Pokemon's moves.

"Hey, (________). Let's get a move on to the next town over, cousin! Time for you to meet the Island Kahuna, and get yourself a Pokemon, yeah!" Kukui said with zest.

Island Kahuna? What does that mean? Am I meeting someone really important already, and getting my Pokemon? I wonder what kind it will be, i know there's always a grass, fire, and water type to choose but what will they look like? Will they look like anything like Rockruff?

"Kahuna?" I asked as I tilted my head to the side in confusion.

"Yeah, the Kahuna that lives in Iki Town is always happy to give any kid and in this case anyone, a Pokemon to have their first adventure with."

That's really nice for someone to do that for first time trainers.

"But don't try to take on the Kahuna yourself! The Kahunas are crazy-strong Pokemon trainers. They're unbeatable for folks like me and you!" Kukui warned me

Those words only made me want to become the best. To take on the Kahunas and show the world that I'm not some loner. That I can make a difference. I could feel the fire in my heart begin to finally light up for the first time.

"They'll simply give (_______) a Pokemon? Then those Kahunas are really worth meeting!" my mom said with the up most passion

It's great to see my mom be excited about me getting a Pokemon for the first time. Even when I was ten I was scared of the outside world. Alone and no one really to depend on, while other kids were excited, I stayed home only to watch trainers pass by my home. This is going to be different, I'm finally going to go on my own adventure. My mom turned to face me, with her infamous pose with her hands on her hips and gave a big grin.

"Hurry up, and get ready (_______)!" she said with confidence in me.

I nodded my head with a smile on my face and headed to my room once again. I started searching through my boxes for my bag and hat. I brushed off myself so I could look more presentable. I took a quick look in my mirror and for once I can look at myself without feeling any shame or doubt. My eyes had life and passion in them, my heart racing with excitement! I was ready. I was about to walk out of my room until I remembered something. My adventure book dad had left behind for me. We never really talked that much about dad. He's an over seas worker and we rarely ever saw him come home. I think he would be happy to see me finally go on my own adventure for the first time. I take the booklet and put it in one of the smaller pockets of my bag. I walk out my bed room and headed towards the front door. As I was about to reach the door nob I turn around to see my mom head towards me.

"Are you excited (_______)?" She asked with a gentle smile.

"Nervous mostly, Scared? You bet. Excited? Definitely!" I said with confidence.

My mom looked like she was about to cry. It was as if she was she was proud of me, to see her own kid finally have her own adventure. I could see her eyes getting glossy and her nose turning pink.

"Go on now! There's a very special Pokemon waiting to be cared for!" she said as she wiped her nose and corner of her eye.

I smile back and rushed out the door. The Sun was intense on my eyes but once they adjusted I was amazed to see what was in front of me. There was a beach just down the hill in front of me  and the ocean looked it would go on forever. I walk down the steps and looked to my right to see Professor Kukui wave at me beckoning me to head over towards him. I rush my way towards him as I began to prepare myself to meet the Island Kahuna.

"Welcome to paradise, cousin. This is the Alola region!" Kukui said as he jested his hand showing the island of Melemele.

"Folks here in Alola get along by living together with Pokemon and working together, too. You can go anywhere, yeah, as long as you got Pokemon helping you out here. That's why we gotta get you to the Kahuna!" Kukui explained

Pokemon and people helping each other? I wonder what he means by that, but it sounds really cool.

"First, we head off to Iki Town! It's not far if we head up this pathway here." He pointed at the hill to the right.

Professor Kukui walked on ahead and I slowly followed. There were some people that were standing by the hill and as I walked by, people started waving and greeted me by saying 'Alola!'. All I could was silently giggle and wave back. It was great to see people and Pokemon smiling and playing around. The hill was pretty steep but if I'm going to be a Pokemon Trainer it was just part of the adventure. I reached the top and I could see some trainers younger that me in the grass looking for wild poke to battle and catch. I can Professor Kukui over by an Archway followed by some stairs. I rush over Kukui.

"Hey (_______) how are you enjoying Alola?" Kukui asked

"It's really amazing! You were right, it was nothing compared to the pamphlet." I said slightly out of breath.

We walked up the stairs and had the sight of a few small houses and what looked like a cave up ahead.

"This here is Iki Town! This is the town where people come to gather and worship the POkemon that watches over Melemele Island. Tapu Koko keeps safe and happy, see!"

Tapu Koko? A legendary Pokemon perhaps, but something felt off when we arrived.

"Huh? What's going on here? We were supposed to meet everyone up here.Hmmm... maybe they're back on Mahalo Trail. That's where the ruins of our deity Tapu Koko are, yeah." Kukui talked to himself while concentrating on where the other people may be.

Maybe something happened? I doubt anyone would forget since most of the islanders I've seen so far have been so kind and nice to someone who only just moved here.

"(______)! Do me a solid and go find the island kahuna! I'll be waiting here so we don't miss each other!" Kukui suggested

I knod my head as I begin to go up the second flight of stairs and into the cave Kukui mentioned before. As I walked up the stairs I saw someone over by the cave. I couldn't tell by the figure but they were dressed in white. Was it the Kahuna? I decided to follow the person into the ruins. As I entered there were more stairs that led to the ruins. You would think there would be a straight path for once? At this point and time I'm starting to feel exhausted from the hills and stairs, near the top I could see the person who cam in here before me. It was a girl wearing a white sun hat, white dress and shoes holding a duffle bag that seemed to be moving around violently. I could hear here mumble something to the bag but I wasn't close enough to understand what she had said. She walked forward as I proceeded to follow the girl. I had reached the top, but before moving any further, the girl seemed to be getting dragged towards the bridge up ahead. She forced a halt and hesitated to what it looked like letting anything escape the bag, whatever it may be. Her efforts were failed when a small cloud shaped creature had sprung out from outta the bag. A Pokemon perhaps? It floated over towards the bridge but had stopped mid way by the sound of a flock of Spearrows. I looked up to see a few of them begin to fly down and swarm the strange Pokemon. The flock of Spearrow started to peck and claw at the Pokemon and left it totally defenceless. I rush my way towards the bridge before the girl turned around with a worried expression on her face came to face me.

"Please..." she said sheepishly.

I didn't know how to respond.

"Help... save Nebby! she said out loudly.

"I would go out there...but my legs feel like they're going to give out."

"Alright." I answered back without a second

How can I help though? I have no Pokemon, but I couldn't leave this poor Pokemon at the wrath of these Spearrow. I hesitated at first but I knew that this Pokemon needed my help, after taking a few steps on the bridge I could hear the creaking sounds of the planks when my weight applied pressure. I took a deep breath and rushed to towards the Pokemon the girl called 'Nebby'. I try to swat away the Spearrow, only to have them claw my arm with some scratches. I threw myself on top of the Pokemon to sheild it from the Spearrow. I close my eyes hoping that the Spearrow would fly away and leave us be. As I covered the Pokemon I felt an energy like aura begin to grow, the next thing I know the bridge had finally gave in and was destroyed. In that moment time had slowed down, I realize I'm falling down towards the river with Nebby in my arms. Was I going to die? Was this how I was going to leave this world? No adventure? No family? No hope?
